How to Apply for a France Visit/Tourist Visa
Travel for private stay or tourism reasons does not entitle you to engage in any professional activity unless you are a young traveller eligible to take part in the working holiday programme.
The reason for your visit or stay may be;
Tourism or private stay;
Medical care given by a hospital.
- If the duration of your stay does not exceed 90 days per 180 day period, you will be issued a short-stay uniform Schengen visa or a national visa depending on your destination.
How to apply
Step 1
Begin your application
On the France- Visas website, Click on “2. Start your visa application”: create an account and answer the questions on-line (your visa application form will be automatically filled in and available for printing);
At the end of the visa application form filling process, a list of supporting documents and the amount of the visa fees will be displayed.
Then you are invited to click on the France-Visa page to get the necessary information regrading appointments.
Step 2
Book an appointment
Choose a Visa Application Center and make an appointment.
Once you have applied for your visa, you need to book an appointment to have your fingerprints and photo taken at a visa application Center. This is know as “biometric information”.
Once you have booked your appointment, you’ll receive an appointment confirmation email along with the letter of appointment.
if you are part of family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.
Step 3
Pay your fees
You need to pay VFS service fees, in addition of the visa fees, at the visa application Center, at the time of your appointment.

Step 4
Visit a visa application Center
You’ll have to submit your complete visa application form at a Visa Application Center in person, unless instructed otherwise.
Track your application
Step 5
You will receive an email update and an SMS when your passport has been returned to the Visa Application Center. You can also track your visa application status online from France-Visas website (under “4. Track your application”):
Use the reference number present on the invoice/receipt issued by the Visa Applicant Center along with your last name to access this service.
Collect your Documents
Step 6
After the envelop containing your travel document is returned to VFS Global Visa Application Center by the French Consulate Mission, It will be sent to your address you provided, by the approved courier service.
Visa Fees
The amount to be paid is: 80 euros (€), or about 7 049 INDIAN RUPEE.
