How to Apply for a Canada Business Visa
Canada Business Visas can be filed online through IRCC secure account.
Business visitors usually stay in Canada for a few days or a few weeks, but are able to stay for up to 6 months.
You’re a business visitor if you:
- take part in international business activities without being part of the Canadian labour market
- are visiting Canada temporarily to
- look for ways to grow your business
- invest
- advance your business relationships.
How to apply
Step 1
Register your account in IRCC
To apply online, you’ll need an electronic “key” for secure access. Register to get a key Register here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/eservices/mycic.asp
Step 2
Select your Visa category
When you are logged into your electronic credential (known as your key), you’ll be automatically directed to CIC’s online services called MyCIC. You will be prompted to register for an account if you are a first time user. Returning users will be directed straight to their account. Once you are logged into MyCIC, then select “Visitor” visa to continue.
Step 3
Enter your personal reference code
After you select “Visitor visa”, you will be asked to enter your personal reference code.
A personal reference code is located at the top of this personal checklist and looks like this: QK4350881372.
Step 4
Steps to complete your application
Once you have entered your personal reference code, you will be guided through the following steps to complete your application:
- Upload your documents
- Review your application
- Pay with a credit card
- Submit your application.
Application confirmation
Step 5
After you submit your payment, you will see a page that confirms that your application has been submitted. It will have more information on next steps. Shortly after you submit, you will also receive a confirmation message in your MyCIC account.
After you submit the online application
For online applications the applicant will receive a decision letter within 7 to 10 business days. After this you will need make appointment for biometrics and passport submission.
- You can only give your biometrics after you get a letter from the Canada consulate that tells you what to do.
- To get this letter, pay the biometrics fee when you submit your application.
After you submit the paper application at the Visa Application Center
- You can give your biometrics when you submit a paper application at a VAC, if you booked an appointment.
